Circus 2 Iraq

Thankyous

Huge heartfelt, ridiculous thanks to everyone who has helped in any way - and massive apologies if you helped and we are still delving into our brains to remember you, we will get there, we just get confused easily and forget things...

From Peat..
Firstly, I'd like to thank Viv from SCABIOUS CORPUS for running around finding sponsors and having faith in me. All the folk involved in battle re-enactment, the funding I received from them was truly amazing, I really cant thank you all enough. JOE AND ALL THE CREW FROM CIRCUS2IRAQ both the performers and the home crew. It's an honour to work and party with you all. RAID, my habibi, for smiles and habibi-ness. JOE KING for holding my hand when it got scary. Lastly, I'd like to give a big BIG thank you to my FAMILY. I know they worry when I do this kind of work, but they never ask me not to go, and that takes real guts.

From Jo..
I don't want to get all Oscars but.
Buckets of love and boomchucka blessings and praises are amply due to:
Hamsa, Husni, Hayder, Waleed, Aala, Ahmed, Abeer, Rehab, Raed – 'Habibi',
Chnur, Mr Daoud – without whom really nothing could have happened and, if
it had, no one would have understood us.
Happy Family, especially Mustafa Poser and Fuad for 'Nahnu Huna', Premiere
Urgence, especially Zainab and Muna and Fadhil and all the actors, Our
Home Iraq, Intersos, Enfants du Monde, especially Cedric for dinner, War
Child, especially Alex for everything, Organisation for Women's Freedom,
especially Layla for bringing me to Shuala and loads of support and for
enormous courage and inspiration, Un Ponte Per, especially Simona P for
kiddie riots and Simona T for getting me on the plane out.
Imad, for everything.
Mohammed at Kishmisha for fruit juice and bright eyes.
Tommo Albert Goblin for love and benefit nights.
Mcpunkgirl for reminding me to be a kickass chick when I'd forgotten and
everyone else who e mailed love and support.
Michael, Raed, Waleed, Dahr, Rob, David, Ahmed, Wissam, Atilla, for
stuffing juggling balls and keeping me somewhere near sane.
Jenny Gaiawyn, Voices in the Wilderness, Joanne Baker and Felicity
Arbuthnot for getting me there in the first place.
Shaner and Mohammed for showing me the power of a soap bubble
Ahrar, Jenny, David and Donna for being not a bad bunch to get kidnapped
with.
Scott for running the website
Sheila for sorting out the bank account and everything
Mary and Tim for the party and all the people who performed for nothing,
Anna and Booby and all at Missing Link and everyone who performed in the
cabaret and all the many, many people who raised or donated money for the
circus and for the drain – it goes without saying that we couldn't've done
it without you, but I thought I'd mention it anyway.
Peat, for inspiration to persevere with the whole plan, for waking me up
gently and for dancing to Grease with me in Kurdistan.
Amber for teaching me to walk on stilts and for vegan chocolate.
Peat, Luis, Amber, Uzma and Sam for getting on that mission with me – you
bunch of clowns.
And finally. Paddy, because in the beginning there was a word and the word
was "Boomchucka."

From Fisheye..
The others seems to have covered most people I want to thank, but I'd just like to thank them all some more (dont worry, I'm not going to make you read through the lot all again!)
There are a few others I have to mention though, and in no particualr order they are:
Everyone on the MT mailing list, not just for the cash and encouragement, but also for helping me to grow enough over the last few years to be able to get it together to boogie on down with all the children and Boomchucka Circus!
Mark Thomas for being an inspiration and a great friend who gave me time, advice, encouragement and more besides.
The Scary dads, for all the reasons mentioned above and some I dare not mention in public!
To Baggy for being an excellent mate and running me round on missions left, right and centre to get things sorted!
The Suttongrad krew, for giving me a place to rest my head and for putting up with my bouts of despair when it looked like I would never get out to Iraq to join the others!!
All the random good folk I met along the way who have supported the circus in so many ways. I thankyou all from the bottom of my stupid clown shoes.
Massive thanks to Jo Wilding for asking me at 7am on a monday morning at the end of festivities at The Big Green Gathering festival if I'd like to join her in taking a circus to Iraq!!
Huge love to all the other Boomchucka freaks for supporting me and putting up with my frazzled nerves all along the way.
And lastly to Rebecca Sumner, for giving me encouragement to go in the 1st place, but mostly for being there in such a loving, supportive and caring way when I returned.
Thankyou so much everyone.
